We were at Gardens by the Bay for a walk and decided to have our dinner here. There are several eateries / restaurants available at Gardens by the Bay.
One of them is the Hill Street Coffee Shop.
Read about the history of Hill Street here.
I love how the menu is designed like an old newspaper tabloid format. But it would be nice if they could have used a better quality paper with paper coating to avoid the menu from becoming 'kiam chye'. The copy we had on our table was a bit tattered due to contact with water.
The eatery serves local fare such as mee siam, mee rebus, prawn noodle, curry chicken, char kway teow, hei mee, satay, etc
The weather these days is extremely humid. A nice cuppa lychee mint drink is such a gem.
Having a meal in the garden despite its shelter does not dismiss you from having the feel of nature. Birds flew in freely while you dine in. Maybe the birds are taking a break from the outside heat? Hehehe
We ordered a seafood hor fun and for about $9.90, the portion is quite small. The hor fun tasted so so too.
We also ordered a hokkien mee aka stir fried prawn noodles aka hei mee. This also cost about $9.90 but its good. I love hei mee that comes with 'chiat bak' aka lean meat. It would have been perfect if the proportion of bee hoon and yellow noodle is the same. I can only taste the yellow noodle but not the bee hoon. Too much yellow noodles makes the dish very 'jerlak'. But overall, its still not too bad.
It wasn't crowded when we dined in maybe because we had an early dinner. An elderly uncle who served us earlier was very friendly and hardworking. Later on when I asked for chilli padi from a young lady, it never came. I had to ask for it again from another wait staff.
