Cafe Brio @ Grand Copthorne Waterfront

We have signed up for the ala carte membership by the Millennium Hotels and Resorts last year because we fell in love with the steamboat buffet at M Hotel. Let's talk about that another time.

This membership package for a year cost us about $418 nett. The membership includes discounts for stay and F&B at any of their hotels or resorts in SG and overseas. Besides that, the card also came with some vouchers to be redeemed at their group of F&B outlets as well as a night of hotel stay. IMO, it's rather value for money.

The ala carte card allows 2 to dine in their restaurants at 50% off. The more people you bring to dine there, the discount level gets smaller. Besides the main card holder, there is a supplementary card too. The supplementary card also has a smaller discount level.

Here's the list of perks for being an ala carte member:

1)       a membership card plus a booklet of vouchers of 3 x $100.00 cash dining vouchers
2)       a complimentary supplementary card
3)       a buffet voucher for 2 persons for lunch or dinner

Valentine's day is usually big business for many F&B outlets. They either jack up the prices or have really special Valentine's Day set meals at cut throat prices. We thought its quite silly to spend so much on a meal for Valentine's Day. Both of us decided to go for buffet lunch at one of the Millennium group's F&B outlet instead. Just two of us... it's almost one for one. We chose Cafe Brio @ Grand Copthorne Waterfront.

14 Feb happened to be the last day of the lunar new year as well. So prices for the lunch buffet was slightly more expensive. But they had yusheng at the buffet area and included free flow of fruit juices. At $58.80++ per pax for a lunch, its quite costly. But with the 50% off for 2 diners, it is really worth it!

Take a look at what was available at the buffet line:

Yusheng station

California maki made into heart shape because its Valentine's Day!

It's nice to pick your own lo hei stuff at the buffet line! But the veg shreds are a tad too thick. Would have been better if they had shredded them thinly.

The raw food station has a chef manning it and slicing your order.

I was delighted to see cereal prawn at the buffet line but unfortunately the end product is not that fragrant and buttery enough.

Some frog dish that tasted so tough!

How can there be no oranges during Lunar New Year? These tiny mandarin oranges are so sweet!

Free flow of juices such as watermelon, mango, guava, orange, apple, etc

I love ice cream counters that serve yam ice cream!
