Thai-style mookata is fast gaining popularity in Singapore in the hotpot scene. I have not tried it yet hence this trip to BKK, I hoped to try it.
Mookata - Moo means pork in Thai, and kata means skillet which refers to a dome-shaped grill with a soup trough that is placed over charcoal embers. But I think most restaurants don't use charcoal anymore.
Mookata set meals usually comes with raw marinated meats, seafood and vegetables.
In BKK, I wanted to try Bar-B-Q Plaza @ Terminal 21 much to the unwillingness of the hub. But eventually I won because I was deprived of lunch that day!
Just did a google for the website and found that its available in Malaysia too!

The cutesy dragon at the restaurant entrance.
The items available on the menu are quite similar to the items you can find on a steamboat menu.
We ordered a pork / chicken mix set and some ala carte items like scallops, pumpkin, asparagus and xiao bai chye.
It takes quite some time for the grill to heat up. And to be frank the meat is not that flavourful plus a little tough. But I do like the way of how we grill this to eat. Hub on the other hand didn't enjoy this. Firstly he was already not for the idea of eating this. Secondly, it takes a lot of patience to cook your food. :P Anyhow I love it and I want to try it again in SG!
The meal again came up to about S$20. In SG, for 2 pax, you can hardly get decent food in a restaurant at S$20!
