Baci Italian Cafe @ Katong 112

It's a rare evening we decided to explore the east for dinner. It has been a long time we last went to East Coast Road / Joo Chiat Road area so we went there to explore. Cos of the little one, sometimes the places we dine at... unfortunately are being dictated by what he wants to eat. Not that we want to spoil him. Because he doesn't like rice and he is the traditional ah pek type must eat his staple aka noodles (can be any type of noodles including pasta).

If say we have burgers for a main meal, he doesn't eat. If he doesn't eat, he is hungry, he gets cranky and end up, I don't get to enjoy the meal! Plus end of the day, we want to ensure he gets to eat a meal proper. That is our priority and so places we dine at... sometimes can get limited, depending on what they serve.

Anyway, along East Coast Road / Joo Chiat Road, food we fancy and went in... ended up telling us they ran out of pasta or noodles. When one is down on luck.... you will not be down once... but twice!

Angry, disappointed and hungry... we hopped across to Katong 112 and got ourselves into Baci Italian Cafe hastily cos the little one is hungry and most importantly, they serve pasta!

Menu looks interesting...

On a Sunday night... business is kinda quiet with only a handful of tables occupied.

But they seemed short handed. After taking our order, water was not served. We had to remind the staff.

What I liked about the salad is that, I can customize to what I want in my salad bowl. Of cos with limitation of the type of items they serve. But that is good enough for me!

The seafood pasta looks good and portion is quite acceptable.

Hub had cod fish and he says it was good. I'm not a cod fish person. In fact I hate it so I avoid it at all costs. LOL No particular reason why I dislike it.

Food was still acceptable but service wise was a boo boo.

While we were still dining, several other patrons walked in and they were being turned out. I heard the waiter mention that the kitchen is closed. Ahem! On Sunday night... and it was only 8 - 8.30pm and the kitchen is closed!? There seems to be only one waiter working. Another lady who helped served left shortly with a bunch of Malay guys.

I am perplexed. Business is in a mall and on a weekend, its closed so early and they only have one waiter? Gosh!

When we needed water to be refilled (so did other tables), the waiter told the guy at the other table to help himself to the pitcher and he can leave the whole pitcher on his table. WAH! The restaurant looks quite decent not those lok kok kok type but yet service is so chin chye?

Overall my impression of the restaurant was not too good. The whole customer experience was kinda shortchanged. Doubt we will ever return to this place.

Just went to their website and saw this:

I wonder... how would self service better your experience? Does that means there will be no service charge? Anyway what a waste that such a cafe with fine name has changed directions to become a semi fast food cafe. Good luck!

Will I Return to This Outlet: Unlikely
