My boy was coughing badly and despite on 2 weeks of GP medication, there was no sign of recovering. There is phlegm in his cough too. Out of desperation, I checked with a fellow mummy who had recently blogged about Young Living's essential oil which she had used on her three boys.
She helped me to get the oils and even lent me her diffuser.
Through my friend, I only asked her to help me get the RC blend and vegetable oil. The RC blend helps ease cough and because it is used on a kid, it is recommended to dilute it with vegetable oil. Initially, she kept oiling her boy without diluting it and he ended up with rashes. Mind you, this vegetable oil is an oil from Young Living. It is not cooking oil that some of my friends thought. LOL
Young Living's essential oils are not cheap. For the RC blend of 15ml, its almost $40. But if it helps make my boy comfortable, I wouldn't mind spending that money.
Initially, when I used it on my boy, I'm not sure if the benefits is really there. But surely I love the smell of RC blend.
Here's some info on RC blend.
I pump a pump of the vegetable oil with 2-3 drops of RC blend and oil it on my boy's chest and back. I was told I'm supposed to do it regularly like every 20 mins. I felt it was a little excessive. So I only do that every few hours.
The immediate benefit I can see after a few days is that at least it eases his cough in the night. At least he stopped coughing during his sleep. And he didn't cough till his face turn red. As he was on medication for 2 weeks plus... I have since stopped his medication and focus only on essential oil.
I decided to put him on longer exposure to essential oil so I asked my friend how I can sign up as a member to get the oils myself. At least I don't have to trouble her although I know she is helpful and wouldn't mind. Plus Young Living's office is so near my office!
A week after I started my boy on the essential oil, it was sufficient to convince me to sign as a member to buy more oils. There are two membership schemes but one doesnt give you wholesale prices. So I signed the one that allows me to buy at wholesale prices. The bad thing is every month I must maintain 100pv worth of points to sustain as a member.
I'm currently helping my close friends to buy as well. Surprisingly, this brand of essential oil seems popular and many of my friends who are not on it actually heard of it b4 and they are keen to try. So I told them since I am a member, I can help them buy at wholesale price. I don't earn anything from it except accumulate points so that I can maintain the membership. Of cos the points can be accumulated over time to redeem oils but you need to spend a lot to accumulate enough points to redeem oils! Anyway, that is not my priority. Since I'm buying every month, I'm just helping close friends along the way if they want.
I posted some pictures on FB and ended up friends whom I'm not close to....have heard of the benefits of these oils actually approached me for help. Sure... I will help since its by the way but just hope I don't meet any bad egg friends who back out after I make the order cos these oils aint cheap!!
The first time I stepped into Young Living's office, I was appalled by the crowd there waiting to collect their orders. Didn't know they are that popular!
The bad thing about the office is the staff ain't very friendly and approachable. I was new and its my first time at their office, they could have been more helpful!
This was what I bought for my 1st order with them.
I also helped a friend to get the Idaho Blue Spruce which is supposed to help with cough and phlegm. I also bought this popular Thieves essential oil (Expensive!!!!) for my boy. Apparently many mummies are on this for their kiddo. Its supposed to build their immunity especially for those who goes to school. I'm putting this on my boy's soles everyday for school.
My first order hit certain points so I was given a welcome kit and a diffuser. I dislike this diffuser cos its kinda bulky and the light cannot be switched off at night. But my mum loves it so she took it for her use.
In the member welcome kit, I was given this stress away oil too. Came in handy as it was a stressful week I had!
I wouldn't say I am entirely sold by the oils. I believe it will take some time b4 I can see the benefits of each oil and it will take a long time for me to test out a lot of oil to see its benefits. But so far I'm quite happy with the oils. So I will continue.
Another friend of mine has put his child on these oils b4 I did. She said it worked initially but recently he has fallen sick again. To be frank, I don't think these are miracle oils that will prevent the child from illnesses. I would think it will help minimize only and perhaps help ease the child when he / she is sick. A person who doesnt fall sick entirely is not a good thing either. Viruses actually helps build our immunity.
Looking forward to buying other oils next month!
