NOM - No Other Meaning

30th May 2014 is the annual Eat with your Family Day and so we were allowed to knock off at 4pm! What a great way to end work on a Friday. If only.... every Friday is Eat with your Family Day. :P

Actually we do eat with our family very often. Just that usually its very late on weekdays cos by the time we knock off and get home it's 7+pm. By the time we settle for dinner, its almost 8pm. Not too healthy to eat so late right? But no choice. Most people knock off at 6pm or even later and taking transport home takes another hour or so.

Food is the best way to spend time bonding with the family.

It was quite a last minute decision to eat out because the notification email from HR came only today. So hub suggested let's eat out with my mum and our boy.

Singapore is a food paradise so one does not have to worry there is no place for dinner. The only thing to worry about is there are too many choices and not knowing which to dine at. :) Luckily I have been seeing people posting rainbow cakes from NOM online and so it wasnt hard to decide.... we shall dine in NOM then.

NOM is located in a community club in MacPherson.

The building's facade look like legoland house with its bright lite colours.

NOM is located on the ground floor facing the car park. Lots are aplenty so it wasn't hard to find a party lot.

The menu is quite extensive for a cafe. Prices are very reasonably priced too.

There is a small little slide in the cafe that is 'wrapped up' with the iconic dragon. Kids may not know who is this orangey dragon but if you know, we are probably in the same generation. *laughs

Good thing about this cafe is... they do have kid's menu. This is heaven set for all parents. So that means we don't need to eat what the kids eat. The only not so perfect thing is the drinks offered. If they can offer fruit juice as another alternative, that would be great. I'm not so keen to offer ice lemon tea or soft drinks to my boy so I opted for milk but he hates milk in a cup so the cup was left untouched at all. :(

NOM - The sound made when eating something.

Nomster - Someone who noms a lot. A nomming monster.

This is on the menu and its kinda entertaining. :)

The cafe is quite simple, not cozy but very spacious.

I kinda like it cos I dislike cluttered places.

We ordered a mushroom soup and it tasted good!

This is the kid's pasta.

We also ordered a mushroom pizza and it is very yummy! The crust is thin and portion quite big.

Mum had the beer battered fish and chips and portion is huge too.

I ordered a beer battered fish and chips burger. Portion is just nice for a small eater like me. :) This cost me about $10.90 which is reasonable.

My objective to visit NOM is for its rainbow cake. No matter how full I was, I'll have space for dessert. So we ordered an oreo rainbow cake. It was yummy! One of the yummiest rainbow cake I ever had. They had two other flavours for the rainbow cakes too. I can only remember the other coated with chocolate.

It was so good that my fussy son polished off quite a fair bit of the cake!

All the items ordered, the total bill came up to less than $70 for 3 adults and a toddler. Definitely worth another visit someday.

One thing to improve on is it would be nice if the staff can do their rounds to top up water for customers instead of hanging at a far corner chatting while customers have to wave frantically to get their attention just to ask for water refill.
