Prior to arriving in BKK, I emailed the hotel for directions to get to the hotel from the airport via the rail link. They were really helpful in their email reply. The hotel was situated just right infront of the BTS which is really god send. After all the walking and shopping, the last thing I want is to walk a long way back to the hotel from the train station. *chuckles Three years ago when we stayed in Grand Diamond Bangkok, there was no train station nearby. It was a 10-15 mins walk. Quite a torture to drag yourself back to the hotel after a long tiring shopping day right? :P
The hotel's lobby is quite spacious but there weren't any seats for guests to hang around. There is a huge TV screen updating hotel guests on the ongoing demonstrations and protests situation in BKK. That is a nice gesture as that shows they care for the safety of their guests.
Hotel staff were mostly polite and ready to serve. But upon check in, it took a little longer. By the time we reached the hotel, we were famished as it was lunch time. If they could have sped up a little, that would be perfect!
The bell boy was quick to take over our luggage upon our entry into the hotel. He stood by our luggage patiently and waited for us to do our check-in. And escorted us to our room, explained where we should put the card to activate the electricity. He didnt have to help us with our luggage actually cos it was really light upon arrival. But still we let him do so and gave him a small tip.
We booked a superior twin room. Separately, I emailed the hotel directly to request for early check-in, late check-out and king size bed if available. My principle is 'Ask wont die. Ask and you might be given.' They allowed us to check in at around 12 noon (usually its 2pm) and upgraded us to a superior king room.
The room is huge, spacious and clean. Would be a nice place to bunk in with my boy too. The side sofa is good for us to stash our shopping loots at the end of the day. Hehehehehe
I love that the bedroom is separated by a walkway with wardrobe. It gives you a walk-in wardrobe feel with some privacy.
The bathroom is huge and spacious as well. You can also put down the roller during shower and close it if you want some sunlight into bathroom while you do your make up.
Oh... the room came with free wifi too!
The BTS station right infront of this hotel is station Ploen Chit. It is one station away from Central World and two stations away from the Siam BTS. Definitely located conveniently!
On our last day, I asked if we could extend our check-out time to 2pm instead of 12pm and they obliged. On our way down to check-out, a receptionist was in the same lift as us. She was friendly and asked to take our room key from us. She proceeded to do the check-out for us when we reached the ground floor.
The same bell boy was eager to take over our luggages again. Another lady quickly came to ask and asked if we need help to get a taxi.
The overall experience here is nice. Definitely makes one feel comfy and valued as a guest. Hope there will be a chance I can bring my mum there and stay in this hotel!
