Shopping Street of Insadong @ Seoul, Korea

Our apartment is located about a street away from Insadong. Getting there is fairly easy. And it is located just within walking distance from the Gyeongbokgung Palace.

The Insadong street is a quaint little old charm street. The long street houses many traditional goods, restaurants and teahouses. Modern cafes are sprouting along the street.

If you get there early in the morning, it is actually quite nice to walk. Its quiet, not crowded and you can witness the shopkeepers setting up their shops.

Last year, our tour guide told us this bakery is way better than Paris Baguette. We didnt try it last year so this time round, we decide to give it a go.

We ordered their breakfast items. Looks good eh? Well, it tastes as good as it looks!

Paris Croissant is located in the middle of the Insadong street. You should not miss it as you walk along the street.

Palsaik Samgyupsal Korean BBQ 팔색삼겹살 @ Seoul, Korea

I was introduced to this restaurant by my hairstylist. Before we went she told us the BBQ meat is good and very reasonably priced.

Palsaek Samgyeopsal serves fresh local pork belly meat, seasoned with eight kinds of special sauces namely ginger, wine, ginseng, pine leaves, herbs, curry, soybean paste, and pepper paste. The meal also comes with all-you-can-eat fresh veggies.

Indeed. It was so good that during our week long trip, we went there twice!

For the 8 flavour meat, we paid about S$32 in total. It was so good and so worth it.

Take the subway to Sinchon Station (Subway line 2), Exit 6. Walk straight along Baekbeom-ro for about 150m. The restaurant is located at the opposite the street.

We missed the place while trying to find it the first time. It wasn't easy to spot though it was located just along the road. LOL

Recognize this huge light box with flags. Once you see this, you have reached!

Each table was given a BBQ grill plate and hotpot with lotsa vegetables.

The eight flavour meat is so good! We love it.

You can top up for extra sides like mushrooms.

The wait staff helps you to BBQ your meat and cut them up into slices so its easier to consume.

The vegetable that was given was really fresh. It's hard to find such pretty fresh looking vegetables in Singapore and it tasted crunchy. Super love it when we wrap it with meat.

The vegetable station where you can refill your vegetables to your heart's content.

If you are in Seoul, you must visit this place!

Opening hrs: 11:00-24:00

Address: 18, Baekbeom-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul

On the Streets of Ewha Woman's University and Hongdae @ Seoul, Korea

Ewha Woman's University was Korea's first university for women. Around the streets of the university, there are many shops selling affordable and fashionable cosmetics, clothings and accessories, many for 10,000 won which is about S$12? That's really cheap!

I think the shops here cater more for the college students as the clothings seemed more casual and there are several bags shops also selling at 10,000 won each.

Hongdae is within walking distance from Ewha Woman's University. We didn't realize it is that convenient and near to get to HongdaeHongdae is another shopping district near a college (Hongik University) that sells lotsa clothings and accessories. It's a really happening area here with places of interests and cafes as well and at night, activities like street performances fill the streets.

We planned to visit Trick Eye Museum at Hongdae but weren't really sure where exactly it was located. We waked and walked and found it by chance. :)

Be sure to print this voucher before you visit Seoul. With this voucher, you get special rates for entry into Trick Eye Museum.

The Trick Eye Museum is located underground. The entrance is quite small but it should be visible since the signage is quite huge and there are always people walking in and out.

It is ranked the No 1 museum on tripadvisor!

We have visited the Trick Eye Museum in Sentosa, Singapore but I must say, it really pales in comparison to the one in Seoul! Firstly, the entrance fee is considerably cheaper in Seoul even without the voucher. There are more installations too and most importantly, there is no long Q!

Some installations are similar as the ones in Singapore but some are totally new or in addition to what we have in Singapore.

Besides that the ticket also covers entry into the Ice Museum!

Brrrrr..... its minus 2 degree!

It's quite a small ice exhibit area but at least its something interesting and best, you pay 1 price for 2 museums.

The ice sculpting are in Christmas mood.

It will probably take you max 10 mins to visit the ice museum.

Another popular hangout in Hongdae is the Pink House Hello Kitty Cafe. People would flock to the cafe to either take photos or to chill there.

The interior is so pinky and kawaii!

But the service staff is really slow. They cannot seem to handle the 'crowd' even though the whole cafe is not filled.

We ordered a waffle and a cake.

The food are just cute but don't expect anything more.

There are lots of street snacks and you must try their churros!

This churro from Mr Churro is really yummy.

Fried Chicken and Harshbrown!

Chicken and beer! We had to take away the chicken cos it was late and we are both not beer drinker so we didn't order any beer to go with it. Koreans really love their chicken and beer.

Night street preformances attracting a large crowd.

The fried chicken is really good. Hub polished about 2/3 off and even our little boy loves it.
