Safari Balloon Sculpting by PA @ Nex

The People's Association held a balloon sculpting exhibition at Nex mall. The theme is on safari and all the sculpted balloons look so so awesome and alive! Many kids were going gaga over the displays!

I think they are so talented to sculpt into these animals made of balloons. I shall let the pictures do the talking. :)

Nandos @ Nex

The first time I tried Nandos it was in Kuala Lumpur. I actually quite like it. It's something similar like Kenny Roger's (which I also like but my hubby hates it which I have no idea why!).

Nex recently opened an outlet so we decided to eat there when I met up with my bff.

The outlet sits at the now de-funct Cafe Cartel unit.

There was a promotion set going on for two for Ramadan. Though we are not fasting, the promotion set looks good so we ordered that.

It comes with a quarter chicken, 2 sides and a drink. We ordered the sweet potatoes for sides. Usually sweet potatoes are yummy even on its own but their sweet potatoes looked and tasted horrid. In the end, it was mostly left untouched. I think it will take a person with an acquired taste bud to truly enjoy this dish.

When our dishes were served, no one served us the sauces. We had to go look for it ourselves.

Service was pretty bad at this outlet. When we called for bill, they realized they had mixed up the table for the bills. The earlier patrons next to our table had gotten our bill which was cheaper and had left. While their bill was left for us to settle. We highlighted this to the staff and they got all confused. It took them about 15 mins trying to sort that out. From the dishes on the table, it was evident what we had for dinner. I felt they should have printed a bill for us to settle first before they sort it out internally and not kept us hanging there, waiting and trying to figure out what are they doing.

Hope they improve on this aspect if I do ever visit them again.

Will I Visit this Outlet Again: Maybe

Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert @ Nex

Hub was craving for dessert when I asked if we should go for ice cream. There weren't many dessert places in Nex so the obvious choice was Sheng Kee

Seems like they have a new menu - Durian sago!

We ordered one to try and its good stuff! I like it. Will be back for more, I'm sure. :D

AOne Claypot @ Nex

Whenever we want something simple, not too expensive and brainless decision, AOne comes to mind.

To be frank, personally I think their portion is kinda small though not pricey. I heard they used to operate in food courts and recently branched out to open their own outlets. If this kinda portion at food court prices, I think its acceptable. But for a restaurant, with increased pricing at such a portion, its not quite justifiable to consumers.

Anyway, I normally have their claypot noodles... that is something that usually won't go wrong. If it does, I think the rest of the dishes served in that restaurant will be a goner. LOL.

Magnum Pop Up Store @ Nex

The magnum pop up store at Nex is not a novelty concept since the first pop up store was opened in Clarke Quay some time ago. But we have never visited any until today.

This pop up store just opened and is located just outside the defunct Cafe Cartel at Nex B1. I think it will be there until end of April 2014.

The magnums on display looked awesome and I thought the ice cream is gonna be at that size. But....

Anyway, although it is a make shift pop up store, the interior is quite decent. When we stepped in, the manager was very friendly and immediately told us that he will reserve a table for us while we order our ice cream.

For the magnum ice cream, we can choose 3 toppings and 1 coating. Each ice cream will cost $7. Kinda expensive actually but must at least try once for the experience.

There is milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate. I try not to take milk chocolate cos it tends to give me pimples. So I chose white chocolate coating.

This is the outcome of my customised magnum. It looks grossly unappetizing but its good! Esp the rose petals... i love it! The stars werent that fantastic but the popping candy is not bad. Its not too sweet.

The experience is not too bad. We will probably try again if there is a chance.

Will I Return to This Outlet: Yes

Nex Customer Service

On Friday evening at about 645-7pm, I took a Q no at Nex customer service to update my reward points. There were many others waiting in Q. However, there was only one counter opened. That service officer attends to mall enquiries, members, non-members as well as SISTIC customers! SISTIC customers usually horde to the counter longer. Imagine on a weekend evening... there is only one counter opened? Terrible. Nex management.... please learn from Capitaland Malls management!

CapitaStar Rewards

Are you a Capitastar member? If you are not, sign up now! You can download the apps for iTunes or Android. If you dont wish to sign up, do me a favour... take a snap shot of your receipts which you had spent at participating Capitaland Malls and whatsapp me! The snap shot must show the mall's name, total amount and date.

Each time you submit these receipts, approved ones will be rewarded with points. Every 5000 points accumulated you can redeem a $5 voucher. To be frank, the reward is peanuts. But if I do shop in Capitaland Malls, why not? Just let it accumulate and earn some vouchers for shopping!

I like the fact that they made it so easy for you to submit your receipts. You can do it anytime anywhere! Nex should learn from them.

Currently I am on the Nex's member scheme too where every year I must spend about $2000 to be able to qualify for this to accumulate points and redeem vouchers. The vouchers I can redeem in a year max is about $100. This is peanuts! And sometimes to accumulate the points, I have to Q for a long time just to get the points. Plus the receipts must be submitted on the same day otherwise it is not entitled to points accumulation. (CapitaStar gives a one day buffer) It's a complete waste of time and money to get reward points from Nex.

Go try the Capitastar rewards! Happy shopping!

Nex Shopping Mall

Every festive such as Christmas and Chinese New Year, Nex Shopping Mall gives away freebies to its shoppers when they make minimum spendings within the mall.

This year, every $50 spent entitles you to a packet of 8pcs of ang pow packets. Maximum redemption per customer is 3 packets per day.

For every $200 spent in a day, you get to receive a cuddly Nex Fortune Horse. The red one is Fa Fa and the flowery white one is Cai Cai. Total there are only 2,500 pcs for each design to be redeemed. If you make your spendings with Citibank, you only need to spend $150 to redeem one.
